Radio Work

In the one and a half years I have been at Bournemouth University studying Journalism, I have embarked in producing numerous amounts of Radio work, both live shows, documentaries and podcasts alike.

Major Multimedia Project - One Skin One Sport - The psychological effects of racism in the footballing world

Racism in football is an issue that has plagued the sport for hundreds of years.

It brings memories of a time where certain cultures were not accepted - segregated and isolated for being considered different and therefore not good enough - a barbaric and outdated way of thinking.

Racial attacks can leave players scarred, isolated and alone, but to the everyday football fan - they might not realise how much it psychologically damages the players.  My documentary looks to reveal the deeper and psychological effects racism can have on football, and raise awareness to hopefully deter people from embarking on such a disgusting issue.

Radio Documentary - Breaking into the Music Industry

My most prominent piece of work is a 7-minute Radio Documentary about breaking into the music industry and the struggles faced by an up and coming artist. For this piece, Adobe Audition was used to mix and master different musical genres, such as House and Hip Hop, overlaying the tracks with interviews with professional artists, whilst always monitoring the levels of audio and ensuring fades are in the correct place. The piece also demonstrates full knowledge of the BBC Copyright licensing agreement, as well as fulfilling the piece for a specific target audience - BBC Radio 1 XTRA. Sadly, due to the use of copyright music, the piece cannot be uploaded online, but below is a snippet, and the full documentary can be sent upon request.

Weekly Podcast

On top of all of my University studies, another course-mate and I produce and publish a weekly podcast on our experiences at University and just comical anecdotes on our life. The podcast is recorded in the radio studios at University, using Burli to record alongside the professional microphones and software, edited using Adobe Audition and published onto Soundcloud. The podcast, though not covering particularly pressing events, is a demonstration of our independence and joy of production - it was created on our own accord.
